When you are in Thailand, you can extend your stay in the country for a limited period by attending Thai Immigration. However, depending on the officer in charge, this may be only for as little as seven days. It is also likely to receive greater unwarranted scrutiny. In many ways, you are better off doing a “visa run” to the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, Laos. It is a beautiful city, and Thai Visa Express runs weekly trips.
You should be aware that the rules can change at any time, but generally, the minibus leaves our offices in the evening. It will travel through the night to Nong Khai where you will cross the border into Laos as soon as the border opens. You will then be taken directly to the Thai Consulate where you will submit your paperwork which will have been diligently checked by our staff before departure.
After Submitting Documents to the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, what happens?
- You will be taken to your hotel where you will be staying overnight
- The rest of the day is yours. We suggest heading to the area around the main square in the city
- The next day you will collect your visa in the morning from the Thai consulate
- You cross the border back into Thailand and travel back to Pattaya arriving home at night time
